FACTS ABOUT CCTV

1)
The CCTV camera was invented by Walter Bruch. A CCTV camera's primary function is to capture light and transform it into a video stream.

2)  Closed Circuit Television is the full name for CCTV. Video Surveillance is another name for CCTV. The components of this system, such as the video camera, display screens, and recording equipment, are all connected directly.

3)  One out of every 1000 crimes is solved thanks to CCTV cameras.

4)  China, the United States, and Germany are the top three countries with the most CCTV cameras, according to new study. China is the unchallenged leader in CCTV surveillance, with four times the number of cameras as the United States.

5)  The city of Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu has surpassed the rest of the world as the location with the most CCTV cameras. Chennai has 657 CCTV cameras per square kilometre, followed by Hyderabad has 480 cameras per square kilometre.

6)  Every day, you are caught “in the act” by a CCTV camera. According to studies, a Londoner is likely to be captured on security camera over 300 times per day, the highest rate in the UK; while an American citizen can be recorded on video over 75 times per day!

7)  One of the most effective deterrents for burglars is CCTV cameras, which make it nearly hard to break in without being detected. Experts believe that if people had CCTV monitoring, up to 67 percent of household burglaries could be avoided. Burglaries can be prevented with the use of CCTV security systems in both homes and businesses.

8)  Instead of a DVR, an IP camera sends video as a digital stream of data across an IP network to a Network Video Recorder (NVR). IP cameras provide higher video resolution and image quality than CCTV cameras.

9)  A licence plate recognition camera, or LPR, is the NSC-LPR-832-BT1. It's a 2MR EXIR bullet camera with a zoom lens of 8-32mm. It records licence plates at night with its 100-foot IR distance and delivers silky smooth video at 60 frames per second.

10) When the hard drive is full, new photos will be recorded first, overwriting the older footage. NVRs, or network video recorders, are similar to DVRs in that they can record video from IP cameras. These are made with more robust components than ordinary computer hard drives, allowing them to work 24 hours a day, seven days a week if necessary.
