SURPRISING FACTS ABOUT DIFFERENT COUNTRIES


1)  Tanzania (previously Tanganyika) obtained independence in December 1961, whereas Zanzibar gained independence through a revolution in January 1964. In April 1964, the two republics merged to establish the United Republic of Tanzania.


2)  The desert covers the majority of Iraq's land. The Euphrates and Tigris, however, are two major rivers that are vital to Iraq. In addition to the two rivers, the country is traversed by other rivers such as the Diyala, Little Zab, and Great Zab.
